Plagiarism in academia and science can be found in all countries, in all further education institutions and subjects, and on all levels of scholarly qualification. Since neither every institution, nor all subjects are the same, their different perspectives on plagiarism are important. Firstly, the perspectives need to be taken into account, when the problem is addressed and adequate solutions to avoid plagiarism should be implemented.  Secondly, the different cultural background of people involved may cause additional problems to effectively deal with plagiarism. Friction may occur e.g. between scientific communities in different countries, subjects as different as chemistry and philosophy, instructors and students, universities and schools, etc. The presentation will introduce the audience to the topic and aims to encourage a discussion about the understanding of plagiarism form their own cultural background and perspective.
